Ore car enters the Epic Events gallery
Yesterday I took delivery of a rocker-style ore car used for clay mining at the Rockwell Clay Mine in Golden. It’s big and heavy, requiring a team of burly men from the City of Golden Streets department. For the past year it was safely stored at City of Golden shops awaiting installation in Epic Events. A fairly new acquisition, the c. 1910 ore car represents 125 years of clay mining in Golden. The car is one of nearly 40 objects visitors will see in Epic Events opening September 18, 2016 at the Golden History Center. Thank you to the Streets Department for all of their assistance!
Two life-size fiberglass donkeys arrived too. While they’re not real, they might fool you. They’re also for Epic Events, but you’ll need to wait and see how they get used!

Finally, I sent another artifact out for cleaning: a special banner used to celebrate the 1959 Golden Centennial.
This exhibit is proving to be an epic event.
