Astor House Update: Sept 30, 2016

Moving right along with major construction items. The concrete retaining walls in the south basement are now largely complete. Brick walls in the north basement are being removed in sections. The earthen wall is then braced with a concrete cast and then concrete is hand-poured into the cast. Concrete must set for about a week before the casts can be removed.

In the main house, steel beams are being prepped for installation. The first columns have been attached to footers and over the weekend crews will install beams in the first and second floors. Once that is complete, joists will be reattached to the new beams.
