Hands-on History 2021 Camp Registration Opens in January
GOLDEN, Colo., Jan. 5, 2021 – Golden History Museum & Park’s popular Hands-on History summer camp is back for 2021, featuring five unique options for kids aged 6 to 12.
Student & Family Programs Coordinator Annika Firn commented, “After testing the waters and running a successful limited-capacity camp in 2020, we’re ready to make next summer even better. Our model distancing practices, extra sanitizing, and clever program adaptations mean that each camper’s experience will be top-notch in 2021. We will be moving forward with Covid-19 capacity limitations and policies in place from last summer to ensure a safe experience for our families but will keep up-to-date with local and state guidelines as the year progresses.”
The full-day camp themes for 6- to 12-year-olds include: Dirty Jobs, Pioneer Kids, History Mystery, Art Explorers, and Silent Stars. In fun activities led by expert instructors, campers will explore history through cowboy roping, gold panning, schoolhouse lessons, and more.
Firn continued, “We’re excited to share more diverse stories from Colorado’s history. We’ve added some great activities that will explore more of Colorado’s historic and present communities. Overall, this camp is providing an exciting and unique perspective for Hands-on History participants to learn about their local history.”
“We are continuing our fantastic online registration system this year,” Firn added. “We know from recent years that the registration process for families is streamlined and more user friendly than ever. It also includes a safer, more secure check-in and check-out system and a parent portal which families can use to access additional information before and during the camp sessions.”
Hands-on History sessions will run weekly between June and August. For specific dates, age requirements, times, prices, and activities, please visit GoldenHistory.org/HOH. Registration opened January 4, 2021 for museum members. Non-members must wait to register until January 16, 2021.
