Packing up the Museum

Staff is in the midst of cataloging, preparing and packing artifacts at the History Museum to send to offsite storage in preparation of renovation construction. On January 3rd, Curator Mark Dodge dismantled the c.1900 Koenig Mercantile Sleigh. Koenig Mercantile inhabited the Loveland Building at 12th and Washington Avenue (also known as the Old Capitol Building) from 1884-1941. The story handed down by the family states that the horse used to pull this sleigh knew his route so well that he made each delivery stop without direction.
