History | This c. 1862 small wooden well stood in the middle of the main road from Bergen Park to Hutchinson-Bradford Junction (now Conifer). A local landmark for many years, the new route for the main road passes next to it. It stands close to the point where a toll gate stood for the Bradford Toll Road, near the junction of the Bradford Road and the road from Bergen Park. According to local folklore the well was being dug at the time of the 1862 Second Battle of Bull Run (Manasas) was being fought during the Civil War. |
