HistoryGenevieve Chandler Phipps was divorced from multi-millionaire Colorado Senator Lawrence Phipps, bought 1,000 acres on upper Bear Creek, west of Evergreen, and in 1916-1917 built an elegant mansion and a complex of buildings for herself and two daughters. In subsequent years and through several owners, Greystone has functioned as a family home, cattle ranch and guest ranch for the rich and famous. Name source is unknown.
