| History | This property was originally purchased for irrigation easement from 15 previous owners. Bates Lake on the site was eventually drained and filled in. Funding for the park was provided by the 1974 Bond Referendum approved by the citizens of Arvada. The land was homesteaded by the Bates family and was named "In order to memorialize the hardy pioneers responsible for settling Arvada." Homestead Park was agreed upon by the Park Naming Advisory Board for the Pioneers and the Bates family. |
