HistoryWilliam Lee came to Colorado in 1859 and purchased a squatters claim of 160 acres at what was Prospect Trail and Olivet Road (38th Avenue to 44th Avenue, Youngfield Street). The property bordered on Clear Creek on the north and there is a large spring near the creek. Lee's two-story brick house was atop the bluff near what was soon to be West 38th Avenue. He built a large water tank near the house and pumped water from the spring and stored it for full domestic water and some irrigation use.
