History | Graves Avenue was named for pioneer Oliver Graves, who secured 160 acres by military bounty in 1867. With the revision of Jefferson County street names in 1949, this thoroughfare became Marshall Street, named for John Marshall, Chief Justice of the United States from 1801-1835. |
