History | John Reno was the first member of the Reno family to come West. He joined the rush to the Colorado gold fields in 1858, and was among the group of miners who panned gold on Ralston Creek. John wrote letters to his family in Beaver County Pennsylvania. Eventually his father, Thomas Reno, and brother, Louis Alcorn Reno, journeyed to the Rockies. Louis homesteaded 40 acres of land west of Wadsworth Blvd. He drew up the Reno Plat and built for himself the largest house in Arvada in 1890. |
