HistoryThis was established in 1865 where the Denver Leadville Stage crossed Elk Creek. Nearby a Willowsville Post Office was established in 1879 and Belleville Post Office in 1881 on the same site. Samuel Shaffer owned the site and the Crossing and Post Office were named for him.
